Hello...
Thank you for coming to find out more about me, my experience and skills. I am Miriam, Director and Founder of Mulberry Brown Communications.
My Story
I launched Mulberry Brown Communications in September 2025 after many years working in senior corporate roles, most recently as UK Head of External Marketing and Communications for a FTSE 250 global defence company.
After years of working nationally and internationally, I wanted to return to supporting businesses and organisations closer to home, particularly across the Southwest. Starting my own consultancy also gave me the flexibility to balance family life, reconnect with creativity, and work more closely with clients, delivering thoughtful, hands-on support rather than operating at arm’s length. It’s also given me the opportunity to pursue and combine other areas of interest including supporting other female founders, promoting women’s rights, writing and public speaking.
My USP
With over 25 years’ experience, my unique strength lies in being a genuinely multi-disciplined communications professional.
I work across PR, media relations, marketing, events and crisis communications, providing integrated, strategic support rather than siloed services. I build and protect reputations and help clients win attention, influence, customers and funding.
While I offer a holistic communications service, I am particularly known for my expertise in:
-
Crisis communications and reputational management
-
Media relations and PR strategy
-
Behaviour change campaigns
-
Audience segmentation and strategic insights
-
Strategic storytelling and messaging architecture
This breadth of experience means I can see the bigger picture and provide a tangible return on any investment in marketing and PR.
Previous Experience
My career has taken me across the UK and internationally, including work in France, Germany and the United States.
I’ve supported organisations of every size from start-ups and charities to public sector bodies, government departments and FTSE 250 companies.
My early career began in the theatre and music industry, before moving into luxury hotels and travel, and later into policing, where I spent 15 years leading behaviour change campaigns, major events, PR activity and high-profile crisis communications.
During that time, I worked locally, regionally and nationally collaborating with organisations including the Home Office, No.10, the NPCC, the Prince’s Trust, major sporting figures and national media.
Most recently, I led external communications for the UK within a multinational defence company, working with the MOD, managing complex communications across highly regulated and sensitive environments.
Alongside these formal roles, I have also supported charities, small businesses and sole traders on a freelance basis helping them establish their brand, voice and visibility. This breadth of experience allows me to support organisations regardless of sector or scale.
A Police Officer, an Actress and a Marketeer Walked Into a Bar…
Yes, that’s me. My career has included roles as a professional actress and singer, a producer, writer, public speaker, model, teacher and…a warranted police officer. On paper, that might look unconventional. In reality, it has always been about the same thing:
Communication. Storytelling. Human connection.
My career has taken me from stage to station to boardroom. Whether I’m writing a press release, coaching a CEO for broadcast, or presenting evidence, the work is consistent: understand the audience, craft a clear narrative and communicate with confidence.
So What Does This Means for Clients:
All of my experience - creative, operational and strategic, comes together to offer clients a truly holistic communications service. Whether you:
-
Want to grow your brand visibility
-
Need a clear PR or communications strategy
-
Are preparing for a major launch or event
-
Want coaching to strengthen your public presence
-
Or need calm, expert support during a crisis
Outside work:
I live in Nailsea with my partner, our daughter and our elderly Jack Russell. When I’m not working, you’ll usually find us heading off on adventures in our camper van, messing about in boats, or unwinding with a good red, a great book and a varied playlist. I value curiosity, creativity, curtesy and proper belly laughs. I try to bring that energy into my work. I’m passionate about supporting female founders and gender equality, I’m a keen advocate for neurodiverse community and I support anti-bullying initiatives.
Let’s talk
If you need a PR partner, crisis communications support, a speaker for your event, or practical media training, I’d love to help.
